How does the ICC Institute of World Business Law admission process work?

The ICC Institute accepts applications throughout the year.

Candidates wishing to apply for membership of the ICC Institute must follow a five-step process:

Step 1: Online application (see below) with the submission of a CV and a Cover Letter. Applications will be accepted in English.
Please note that cover letters should address the following questions:

• Why are you interested in becoming a member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law?
• How do you believe you can contribute to the ICC Institute of World Business Law and fulfil its mission and ICC’s larger mission?
• In which ICC Institute activities do you expect to be involved and play an active role?

Step 2: In accordance with the ICC Institute Statutes, the ICC Institute Admission Committee, appointed by the ICC Institute Council, will be informed of all applications. It will review them against the criteria set by the ICC Institute Council.

Please note that the ICC Institute Admission Committee will ensure that :

• The applicants’ main activity relates to international business law and the applicants have relevant experience in the field.
  The Institute’s main focuses are international arbitration / international contracts / compliance.
• The applicants are motivated to participate in the activities of the ICC Institute and wish to contribute to the ICC Institute think-tank role.

The Admission Committee may contact applicants to request more information or further clarification.

Step 3: Once the ICC Institute Admission Committee has reviewed applications, candidates will be informed of its decision.
Should the ICC Institute Admission Committee consider that an applicant should not become a member of the ICC Institute, the application will be referred to the ICC Institute Council for a final decision as to admission, upon a report of the ICC Institute Admission Committee.

Step 4: Upon notice of acceptance, candidates will be invited to pay the annual membership fee which runs from January to December.

What are the annual ICC Institute membership fees?

ICC Institute annual fees are applicable from January to December as follows:

• Standard rate: €400
• Full-time academic rate: €300
• Under 40 years of age rate: €250
• In-house counsel, government representative rate: free of charge

To submit your application to the ICC Institute for the first time, please send your CV and cover letter to the contact below. You will be required to pay the membership fee only upon notification of acceptance from ICC. Applicants wishing to benefit from the ‘Under40’ category should also send a copy of their ID card/passport together with their application.
