Internship – External Engagement, Office of the Secretary General (Paris)

The role
We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Secretary General’s Office (SGO)’s team for a duration of six months, starting in October 2026. Reporting to the External Engagement Manager, you will learn from and contribute to some of the SGO’s key projects, initiatives, and external-facing activities.
Your responsibilities and learning opportunities include:
- Assisting the implementation of the SGO’s external engagement strategy with national governments, regional and international organisations, and global governance forums, in close coordination with the Chief of Staff and the SGO’s external engagement staff.
- Supporting the SGO external engagement staff with drafting of briefing documents including talking points and speeches – as required, including by liaising with the Global Policy, Global Partnerships and Development, Dispute Resolution Services and Global Communication departments.
- Contributing to strategic projects led by the SGO and in collaboration with teams across ICC, including on topics relating to international trade, the future of multilateralism and conflict affected areas.
- Working with the SGO external engagement staff to keep track of their respective engagements across different targets / initiatives.
- Liaising with the team of the Head of SGO Operations and Governance to drive the success of the SGO missions overseas – including before (meeting preparations), during (support to staff on the ground) and after (post-mission debriefs and follow-ups) such missions.
- Maintaining the SGO’s database on external engagement targets and stakeholders continuously up to date.

Requirements
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Hold a university degree or equivalent, with a focus in economics, political science, international relations, or another relevant field;
- Are a fluent English speaker with excellent writing, drafting, analytical and organisational skills, with the knowledge of any other language being a plus;
- Have the ability to interact with senior stakeholders – both internal and external – with a high degree of professionalism;
- Have good knowledge of Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a basic knowledge of project management tools would be an advantage;
- Are very attentive to detail, with great communications and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a strong interest in fields pertaining to the work of ICC (previous experience in government / international organisations / Multilateral Development Bank would be an advantage).
Terms and conditions
Important information before applying:
- You must still be registered as a student during the time of the internship.
- Nationals from outside the European Union or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Andorra, Monaco, or Switzerland must hold an appropriate visa from the French consulate.
- Non-EU residents are required to have valid papers before applying (long-stay student visa and/or carte de séjour) allowing them to work in France.
- Interns are required to handle their own travel and accommodation arrangements for the duration of their internship. ICC does not provide scholarships or fellowships.
- Based at ICC Global Headquarters in Paris our six-month internship programme is full-time with an average working week of 35 hours.
