ICC response to MC11 conclusion

  • 14 December 2017

The International Chamber of Commerce has issued the following statement upon the conclusion of the World Trade Organization's 11th Ministerial Conference (MC11).

ICC Secretary General John Danilovich said:

“Global business has been steadfast in its conviction throughout MC11 that the WTO is capable of responding to 21st century trade challenges.

The ministerial statements issued on e-commerce, small businesses and services set a strategic and pragmatic path for the WTO to address new issues among coalitions of the willing. We welcome this approach and encourage all governments to advance these new workstreams expeditiously in 2018.

“The landmark Business Forum held alongside MC11 emphasized the readiness of the private sector to engage constructively in the work of the WTO. We look forward to maintaining this open dialogue to bring the experience of the private sector to global trade policy making.”
