ICC Environment and Energy Commission announces new Vice-Chair

  • 8 August 2010

Andrei Marcu, Head of Regulatory and Policy Affairs at the Mercuria Energy Group, has been appointed Vice-Chair of the ICC Environment and Energy Commission.

Mr Marcu will be working under the leadership of the Commission’s Chairman, Laurent Corbier, and together with its Vice-Chair, Brian Flannery, to enhance and upgrade ICC’s engagement in varied environment-related intergovernmental processes.

Mr Marcu is the former President and CEO of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA).  He was the Senior Managing Director for Energy and Climate of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and the Chief Executive Officer of the BlueNext Environmental Exchange in Paris. In addition, he was the manager of corporate initiatives at the United Nations Development Program.  He has spent 18 years in the power industry with Ontario Hydro, where he worked closely with the Chairman and Chief Executive and held progressively senior positions in operations and regulatory affairs.

Given the importance of climate change and environmental issues for global business, the addition of Mr Marcu will assist the Environment and Energy Commission to continue to play an active role in various processes such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
