The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has announced five new appointments to the Standing Committee of the ICC International Centre for ADR, including a new vice-president. Along with eight renewed members, new members will serve a renewable term of three years. The Standing Committee assists the Centre in the application of the Expert and Dispute Board Rules.

Standing Committee President Victoria Orlowski (Of Counsel at Gibson Dunn, United States) and Vice-President Paul Tichauer (independent arbitrator and mediator, Canada) both have renewed mandates while Funke Agbor (Nigeria), a Partner at Dentons Nigeria who has been with the Centre since 2021, has been appointed as vice-president. Ms Agbor specialises in maritime law, insurance law, international trade law and arbitration.

The new members admitted to the Standing Committee are the following:

Selma Baccari (Tunisia, France), Senior Director at Kroll, acts as an expert witness and provides litigation and arbitration support. Her areas of expertise lie in damages assessment, financial auditing and forensic services. She speaks English, French, Spanish and Arabic.

Eric Franco (Perú) is Managing Partner at Legal Delta and acts as lawyer, arbitrator, and Dispute Board member. He specialises in construction and engineering and speaks English and Spanish.

He speaks English, French and Arabic.

Alya Ladjimi, ADR Counsel of the Centre, said:

“ICC is sending a powerful message to the Experts and Dispute Board community. The Standing Committee comprises six women and seven men, reflecting a significant step towards addressing the underrepresentation of women in the field. The committee members bring extensive expertise in dispute resolution and avoidance, with specialisations in construction, engineering, energy, quantum and delay, joint ventures and corporate law. Their contributions will be crucial in advancing Expert determination and Dispute Boards as reliable mechanisms for avoiding and resolving disputes.”

The Standing Committee supports the ICC International Centre for ADR in administering ADR cases filed under ICC Expert Rules and ICC Dispute Board Rules. This includes selecting experts and dispute board members and deciding challenges filed against them; scrutinising expert reports and reviewing decisions of Dispute Adjudication Boards or Combined Dispute Boards; and helping fix fees of experts and dispute board members.
