ICC ASIA Conference keeps arbitration professionals up-to-date
Playing host to the second International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) Asia Conference on International Arbitration is Hong Kong – a leading centre for dispute resolution in the Asia Pacific region.
Held the 28-30 June 2016, the conference will help keep professionals well informed on the latest regional developments.
Featuring over 30 international practitioners from various disciplines, this intensive three-day event provides a wide array of formal and informal networking opportunities, hands-on case studies, interactive sessions, a first-rate training and stimulating workshop — all of which are designed to educate and connect professionals within the domain of international arbitration.
President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration Alexis Mourre said: “As a global leader and preferred institution in dispute resolution, we are steadfast in our dedication and promotion of ICC dispute resolution services, especially in Asia. Our expansion into Hong Kong and Singapore in recent years combined with our 2015 statistics proves that the region continues to develop as a significant player in the international arbitration arena.”

To kick off the event, the ICC Institute of World Business Law will host an advanced-level training on Tuesday 28 June. Entitled “The conduct of the proceedings and case management: the arbitrator’s perspective,” this comprehensive seminar will aid professionals looking to improve and expand their skills and competences. Participants will have a chance to master case management techniques and learn how to effectively conduct hearings and to establish authority over parties.
The conference programme will address pertinent topics tailored expressly to the region. The highlight will be an In-house Counsel roundtable among other informative sessions that will offer in-depth perspective on contemporary issues, such as developments in international arbitration in Greater China, investor-state arbitrations under ICC rules and intellectual property disputes among other noteworthy subjects. Kevin Kim, Vice-President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and partner at Bae Kim & Lee in Seoul said: “After the success of last year’s conference, we are thrilled to return with yet another exciting programme. We hope that by gathering the region’s leading experts, the ICC Asia Conference will actively discuss the most pressing and current challenges and trends in the field of arbitration concerning Asia’s emerging markets.” Mr Kim will be speaking on the panel, “Investor-State Arbitration under the ICC Rules.”
