Following participation on 1 October in a high-level event at the OECD looking at milestones and investment opportunities, ICC Secretary General John W.H. Denton AO, welcomed Argentina Week delegates to ICC Global Headquarters in Paris on 2 October for a high-level roundtable on commercial opportunities of the Mercosur-EU Agreement and the relevance of upholding the rule of law in trade and investment.
The roundtable brought together senior representatives from government, business and the legal community to examine the opportunities presented by the Mercosur-EU framework and the conditions needed to drive trade and investment. Discussions covered agribusiness, food security, infrastructure, global value chains and international arbitration, with particular focus on legal certainty, effective dispute resolution and a predictable framework for long-term investment.
In the context of Argentina Week, ICC announced that PromArgentina will join TradeRoots Americas as a Technical Partner in Argentina, strengthening cooperation to support the internationalisation of Argentine SMEs and their participation in regional trade.
The high level roundtable also featured the signing of a joint statement between ICC and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Argentina, reaffirming respective commitment to strengthening public-private dialogue and cooperation on trade, investment and the rule of law.

Joint statement by ICC and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Argentina
2 October 2026
In the framework of Argentina Week Paris, Juan Bautista Mahiques, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Argentina, H.E. Ian Sielecki, Ambassador of Argentina to France, and John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), reaffirm their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Argentine Government and the international business community, and issued the following statement:
ICC acknowledges the commitment of the Argentine Government and welcomes the reforms undertaken to enhance private sector-led growth by strengthening the rule of law.
The Ministry of Justice recognises ICC as a strategic partner in deepening public-private dialogue and ensuring the needs of the global business community are considered in advancing the reform agenda. We reiterate the importance of continued cooperation to foster the conditions necessary to attract foreign investment to Argentina.
Both sides underscore the value of initiatives such as Argentina Week Paris as platforms for promoting dialogue between public authorities, the private sector and international business communities, and for presenting Argentina’s investment and trade opportunities to international investors and companies.
In this context, both sides welcome and support the organisation of joint events by the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in France and ICC, including the high-level roundtable held on Friday, 2 October, entitled “Investing in Argentina: Commercial opportunities of the Mercosur-EU Agreement and the relevance of upholding the rule of law in trade and investment”.
We welcome the active participation of representatives of the judiciary in initiatives aimed at strengthening dialogue on access to justice, legal certainty and the rule of law, and recognise the important role of the Judicial Branch in supporting a stable and predictable legal framework for trade and investment in Argentina.
We reiterate our commitment to continued collaboration to harness the power of trade as a driver of development and to underscore the importance of providing legal certainty in order to encourage foreign investment. We also look forward to working on mutually beneficial initiatives, with the support of ICC Argentina, in order to further support the creation of a secure and predictable environment for investment and trade in Argentina.
