The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Academy is honoured to participate in a ground-breaking initiative by the International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to retrain mid-career professionals for the international trading sector.

The International Trading Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) officially launched as of 28 July 2016. It is specifically for Singaporeans and permanent residents of Singapore and targets managers, executives and technicians (PMETs). The programme plans to train and place up to 300 people over the next three years. Already 23 mid-career professionals have committed.

This is the first PCP where two institutions, the ICC Academy together with the Singapore Management University International Trading Institute (ITI@SMU), deliver a joint curriculum. In offering participants a mix of traditional classroom training and e-learning elements, combined with seminars by industry experts and site visits to trade companies, it ensures a complete and first-hand view of the international trading environment. More importantly, it will fully prepare participants with the essential fundamentals and necessary tools required to succeed in their future careers.

This programme is a vital response to the labour market, which has seen rapid changes by technological advances in recent years.

ICC Secretary General John Danilovich said: “We are very pleased to be part of such a positive and forward-looking initiative. This programme is a vital response to the labour market, which has seen rapid changes by technological advances in recent years. The training provided will prepare professionals not just for the jobs of today, but for those of tomorrow as well.”

ICC Academy’s industry-relevant Global Trade Certificate (GTC) will provide PCP participants with an extensive overview of trade finance products and techniques. From letters of credit to supply chain financing, participants will gain an overall understanding of trade finance from the banking perspective. The certificate comprises six e-courses, each of which has been designed by ICC’s roster of international experts and practitioners and is recognized worldwide.

We are not only empowering mid-career professionals by giving them the knowledge they need to excel, but also strengthening the trading sector as a whole.

ICC Academy General Manager Daniel Kok said, “In joining forces with IE SingaporeWDA and ITI@SMU, we each bring our own unique expertise to the table. We are not only empowering mid-career professionals by giving them the knowledge they need to excel, but also strengthening the trading sector as a whole.”

Those with solid analytical skills, the ability to solve problems, a global outlook and who can easily build lasting relationships are encouraged to apply.
