Registration opens for 2012 ICC Rules of Arbitration trainings
As requests start to come in for dispute resolution under its new Rules of Arbitration, ICC is set to host training sessions in February and March to help lawyers, in-house counsel and arbitrators to become acquainted with the new Rules, which entered into force on 1 January.
The training courses, which will be held in English, will take place in Paris, France on 27-28 February and 12-13 March respectively.
Jason Fry, Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration said: “Following on from a number of successful launch events around the world, these courses provide the first opportunity to take a more detailed and hands on look at the 2012 ICC Rules of Arbitration. The courses will show how the rules operate in practice by applying them to carefully constructed case scenarios.”
Providing valuable insight from some of the world’s leading experts in arbitration, including members of the Rules drafting group, the trainings, organized under the auspices of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, are a must-attend for anyone involved in international commercial arbitration.
The practical trainings will feature small working group sessions and apply the new Rules to a series of mock cases to illustrate new provisions, including disputes involving multiple contracts and parties, updated case management procedures and the appointment of an emergency arbitrator.
The ICC International Court of Arbitration continues to see an increase in the number of cases handled with a total of 795 arbitration cases filed in 2011. The 2012 Rules of Arbitration aim to meet the growing complexity of today’s business transactions, the need for greater speed and cost-efficiency, and take account of state interests in disputes subject to investment laws, bilateral treaties and free trade agreements.
