The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is opening its third annual two-day Masterclass on Incoterms® 2010 at ICC headquarters in Paris on 10-11 April 2013.

The masterclass is open to any and all those involved in an international trade supply chain.
The masterclass is open to any and all those involved in an international trade supply chain.

The Masterclass on Incoterms® 2010 is offering hands-on training for anyone involved in the international trade supply chain and an exclusive preview of the new book of Incoterms® 2010 Q&As. First published in 1936, the Incoterms® rules provide internationally accepted definitions and rules of interpretation for most common commercial terms by clarifying the tasks, costs and risks involved in the delivery of goods from sellers to buyers.

“The new Incoterms® 2010 rules have been in force for two years now and have gained a central place in every ERP system,” said Emily O’Connor, Executive Secretary for the Incoterms® 2010 rules Drafting Group. “A strict and unequivocal execution of the chosen Incoterms® rule is imperative.”

“There is no organization better placed than ICC – the organization that created and maintains the Incoterms® rules – to help international traders learn how to apply these rules correctly to their global or domestic sales transactions,” Ms O’Connor said.

The two-day training programme will include:

• Illustrating the impact of the chosen Incoterms ® 2010 rule on the different aspects of the contract of sale;
• Helping participants choose the right Incoterms® 2010 rule and understand the consequences on payment instructions, accounting, customs, insurable interest, etc.;
• Assessing the tension between the Incoterms® rules and administrative requirements, payment, the contract of carriage and the insurance policy, among others.

Five learning-by-doing workshops, developed on two previous sessions, will choose recent real-life scenarios and providing a clear understanding of Incoterms® 2010 rules within the context of international sales transactions today.

“The participants’ profiles – and the participants’ points of view – will be the main consideration when finalizing this year’s programme,” said Koen Vanheusden, Director at the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency, Chair of ICC Task Force on International Sales, and trainer of the 2013 Incoterms® Masterclass.

Participants who complete the training will receive a certificate of attendance.

The conference is open to any and all those involved in an international trade supply chain, including contract negotiators or traders, export/import consultants and advisors, execution operatives in export companies and houses, logistics operatives with transport or shipping companies or with freight forwarders, trade finance officers in banks, export/import consultants and advisors, professionals working in finance and risk departments, in-house cargo insurance specialists with insurance companies, and legal advisors for any of the above.
