Millions of COs are issued every year around the globe, facilitating trade and commerce worldwide. Through our ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF), we advocate and promote the unique position of chambers as the natural and trusted agent in the issue of essential trade documents.
What are Certificates of Origin?
Certificates of Origin (CO) authenticate the origin of exported goods, helping customs, banks, and businesses determine applicable tariffs, trade measures, and legal compliance. They support trade policy enforcement, reduce fraud, and enhance efficiency by serving as trusted, standardised documents issued by chambers of commerce.
ICC CO Accreditation Chain
The ICC CO Accreditation Chain is a voluntary global network of chambers certified by ICC WCF to issue COs following ICC’s unified international standards. It ensures that COs are reliable, consistent and trusted by customs worldwide, using a quality label that accredited chambers can display on their non-preferential CO.

Why is the ICC CO Accreditation Chain necessary?
Global trade demands standardised, verifiable Certificates of Origin (COs) to prevent fraud and speed up customs clearance. Without this, Customs face varying national rules, leading to delays and mistrust; the chain harmonises practices for seamless cross-border recognition.
What are the benefits of joining the ICC CO Accreditation Chain?
Globally recognised
Chambers in the CO Accreditation Chain are authorised to display an internationally recognised quality label on Certificates of Origin, reinforcing the reputation of chambers for their integrity and reliability.
Guaranteed traceability
Members in the CO accreditation chain gain access to the ICC CO Verification platform, a centralised digital hub to simplify the CO verification process. Every CO issued under the ICC label goes through a harmonised procedure which guarantees traceability and strict adherence to international standards.
Network and advocacy
The CO Accreditation Chain enables access to a global network of chambers that are engaged in trade facilitation and advocacy initiatives, bringing trust to business in trade and services.

Join the ICC CO Accreditation Chain
Accreditation not only elevates a chamber’s status but also ensures its Certificates of Origin are recognised and trusted across borders, fostering greater confidence, transparency and efficiency in global commerce.
Certificates of Origin trainings
The ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF) offers chambers trusted training in the field of Certificates of Origin (CO).
Non-preferential CO training
Non-Preferential Certificates of Origin (COs) constitute one of the most important trade documents required by businesses, banks and customs officials to authenticate the origin of exported goods.
Preferential Rules of origin for issuing organisations
The training aims to guide chambers through the process of reading and using the preferential rules of origin of a Free Trade Aggreement (FTA), developing the necessary tools and skills to support their business community in effectively using the concept of origin to increase their international trade competitiveness.
