Since the outbreak of COVID-19, foreign direct investment, or FDI, has declined due to new trade restrictions, protectionist measures, and public lockdowns. Against this backdrop, UNCTAD has released its annual World Investment Report, entitled, “International Production Beyond the Pandemic.”

UNCTAD Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi discusses the report’s findings, as well as COVID-19’s impact on FDI and industrial production.
