ICC mourns loss of Erik Belfrage
ICC’s global network is mourning the loss of Erik Belfrage who passed away Friday from COVID-19, age 74.
A Swedish diplomat, Mr Belfrage had a long-standing involvement with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in various roles, including as European Regional Coordinator and Chair of the ICC Commission on Corporate Responsibility and Anti-corruption. Most recently, Mr Belfrage served as Vice-Chair of the ICC Finance Committee.
ICC Secretary General John W.H. Denton AO said:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our International Chamber of Commerce colleague and friend. Erik was a brilliant mind whose contributions have helped shaped our global institution over many years in several fields – from business ethics to finance. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Erik’s wife and his family at this difficult time.”
Mr Belfrage was founder and chair of partners of Consilio International AB, an independent strategic advisory firm based in Stockholm. Previously, he worked in the Ministry for Swedish Foreign Affairs from 1970 to 1987 as a diplomat in Geneva, Washington, D.C., Bucharest, Beirut and Paris. In 1987, he became vice-president at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken. Mr Belfrage also served as an advisor to former ICC Chair Peter Wallenberg and the Wallenberg family.
