ICC annual PIDA training on international arbitration set for late September
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Institute of World Business Law will once again be offering its annual opportunity for PIDA training on international commercial arbitration in Paris from 24 to 27 September 2012.
The three and a half day event, limited to 50 participants, provides first-hand experience of arbitration proceedings through the study of a mock case under the 2012 ICC Rules of Arbitration.
“Our PIDA training meets the practical needs of those involved in international trade by putting the participants in a situation similar to actual proceedings, and letting them draw upon both the experience of leading experts and their international peers,” said Philippe Leboulanger of Leboulanger & Associes, France, who will be chairing this year’s event.
Participants will study a mock case with working groups limited to roughly 10 participants. The case will be sent to participants before the training to prepare for group work. The training includes preparing and drafting the various stages of arbitral procedures, through Request, Answer, Terms of Reference, a simulation of arbitral proceedings, including cross examination and oral pleadings and Award.
Sessions given by leading arbitration practitioners will also discuss such topics as the state of arbitration in the world today, the general principles of arbitration, the selection and appointment of arbitrators, and the powers, duties and roles of arbitrators, among others.
Legal directors and corporate counsel from companies involved in international trade, practising lawyers and magistrates are all invited to join.
