Brazil events put dispute resolution in the spotlight

With a special focus on Brazilian practice and experiences, ICC’s Brazilian Arbitration Day on 14 May will feature the Brazilian Launch of the 2014 ICC Mediation Rules and will be followed by the debut in Brazil of the ICC Institute of World Business Law’s Masterclass for Arbitrators.

Taking a look at the current state of corporate arbitration in Brazil, Arbitration Day topics will include an overview of current problems and solutions; recent experience in emergency arbitrator proceedings; and a discussion on using the evidence of experts. A panel on mediation will also provide a comprehensive overview of the new 2014 ICC Mediation Rules, canvassing the reasons to choose mediation, how to start and conduct mediation proceedings, and how to find the right person for your dispute.

The masterclass is designed for practitioners who have significant experience as counsel in international commercial arbitration but who have not yet worked as arbitrators, as well as arbitrators who wish to reinforce their knowledge. The masterclass is limited to 60 participants, and a Curriculum Vitae is requested upon registration, as candidates will be accepted depending on their experience. Early registration is advised to avoid disappointment. Both the conference and the masterclass will be held in English and Portuguese, with simultaneous translation.
