Description

As the institutional representative of over 45 million businesses in more than 170 countries, the International Chamber of Commerce operates with a core mission to “make business work for everyone, every day, everywhere”. We act as the primary voice of the real economy in a range of intergovernmental organisations – from the World Trade Organization to the UN climate process – championing the needs of local business in global decision making. The convening power of our global network enables us to set rules and standards that facilitate over $17 trillion dollars in trade each year – as well as providing tailored products and digital services that directly address the real challenges faced by businesses operating internationally. We also provide the world's premier private global dispute resolution services, leveraging ICC's unique independence, integrity, and expertise.

The role

We are looking for a Director – Industry and Supply Chain, within the Digital Standards Initiative.

DSI also builds the capabilities across the public and private sector which are critical to the task of digital trade transformation.

The Director- Industry and Supply Chain plays a pivotal role in this process by working with key supply chain sectors and stakeholders to define needs, develop technical and other solutions, and iterate and implement these across the trade ecosystem. The position is the principal operational and engagement lead of the DSI Industry Advisory Board, which brings together companies across the end-to-end supply chain including finance and service providers.  The DSI IAB is the authoritative “voice of business” dedicated to the digital transformation of trade.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting and enabling the journey towards towards digitalization of trade at scale, with a focus on standards, trust, and identity.  The position will work with the IAB to:

  • Work with technology providers to develop, test and iterate solutions that could enable the open, interoperable trade ecosystem
  • Support standards organizations in the progress towards fully digitalized,  interoperable trade standards by offering feedback or other means
  • Implement and engage key communities across the trade ecosystem to drive adoption at scale

Address critical gaps and challenges that stymie or slow the adoption of digital trade processes at scale. These might include :

  • Legal gaps, by developing business cases for digitalization or by engaging governments or other key bodies in the reform process;
  • Capacity gaps, by supporting the development of educational tools, professional programs and certifications
  • Technical gaps or gaps created by legacy systems, by supporting technology partners to develop bridge, alignment or transition tools
  • Identification of future needs and challenges that arise as the ecosystem evolves towards digitalization.

DSI engages diverse stakeholder groups including corporates (including banks and financial institutions), industry associations, technology solution providers, governments and inter-governmental organisations.  This role focuses on leading the engagement of corporates but may interact with other stakeholder groups as needed.

Requirements

Your profile:

  • Professional experience in trade and supply chain, preferably with a focus on digitalization of trade (or trade finance) processes. Experience with trade platforms or other service providers would be a plus.
