Annual Miami conference enters new decade in leading Latin American arbitration
As the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 90-year anniversary, hundreds of legal experts prepare to converge at ICC’s 11th annual Miami conference, a leading forum for understanding international commercial arbitration in Latin America, which will take place 3-5 November 2013.
Since 2002, the Miami conference has brought together leading legal minds to examine the latest arbitration trends and developments in the region and is the most significant gathering for the Latin American arbitration community. Held in English, Portuguese and Spanish, the conference attracts the participation of practising lawyers, academics and other professionals, all seeking insight into the latest regional trends and looking to make the most of the event’s extensive networking opportunities.

In contrast to last year’s “back to basics” theme, the 11th annual conference is set to explore the diverse perspectives of international arbitration in Latin America over the next decade. Led by renowned speakers, interactive roundtable and panel discussions will examine the judicial, academic, business, public, alternative, ethical and procedural perspectives of arbitration.
For the first time in its history, the conference will feature an advanced-level training “Drafting Enforceable Awards”, which will take place on Sunday 3 November. Focusing on the most prominent duties of an arbitrator, the training provides an opportunity for participants to learn best practices pertaining to drafting awards as well as ways of maximizing their enforceability. Cover the issue of the necessary substantive accuracy of the award, the training will focus on both procedural and formal requirements.
Featuring a keynote speech by Court President John Beechey, acclaimed international speakers, roundtables and numerous networking opportunities, this year’s conference is expected to attract a record number of participants and with the event almost at capacity, it is recommended to register now while places remain available.
