ICC adds Head of EU Affairs in Brussels

ICC, the world’s largest business organisation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Tom Voege as Head of EU Affairs.

A senior public policy and government affairs professional, Tom is an internationally recognised expert in the areas of sustainability, trade facilitation and industry, covering regulations, governance, and technology innovation.

His career spans 18 years in intergovernmental organisations (United Nations and OECD), management and strategy consulting (EADS/AIRBUS Group), and academia and research institutes (University of Southampton and K.U. Leuven).

Commenting on Mr Voege’s appointment, ICC Secretary General John W.H. Denton AO said: “ In this time of rapidly shifting politics impacting everything from trade to climate change, we believe strongly that our global agenda could benefit from greater engagement with the  EU and other stakeholders in Brussels. With Tom adding to our presence at ICC Belgium, we aim to bolster our communication and collaboration with the EU community across many areas of importance to the millions of businesses ICC represents globally..”

As the largest single trading bloc in the world, the EU creates and influences rules and standards that have implications for business everywhere. ICC has supported the bloc’s commitment to free trade, security and peace since the founding of the European Economic Community in 1957.

Mr Voege said of his appointment: “I am delighted to be joining ICC during this exciting period of transformation for the organisation. I see many opportunities for greater collaboration between ICC and the EU, and I look forward to working with the Brussels community to help create opportunities to collectively address the critical challenges faced by business today.”

A German national, Mr Voege lives in Brussels after years spent in Paris, Riyadh, Berlin and Southampton (UK).

He will begin as Head of EU Affairs on 9 September.
