The Merchants of Peace Foundation

Creating equitable access to economic security.

Our mission

The Merchants of Peace Foundation is an independent foundation supporting small businesses and community entrepreneurs to improve our common future.

We mobilise the world’s leading job creators to build systemic prosperity, going beyond conventional charity and foreign aid to catalyse lasting change rooted in local ownership.

Our mission is grounded in everyday evidence that gains from the global economy must be more accessible to all for peace to be enduring and widespread.

Backed by private sector leaders, we accelerate inventive, business-driven solutions creating economic, environmental and social value for underserved communities so everyone has a stake in economic development.

Global connections for local action

Through a growing coalition of impact partners and a global business network spanning over 170 countries and six continents, the Merchants of Peace Foundation is uniquely positioned to create impact in local communities around the world.

A vision inspired by a legacy of global commerce innovation

Since 1919, the post-World War I founders of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have been known as “Merchants of Peace” for their pioneering efforts to shape a global system of trade that has strengthened ties between nations, powered business growth, and helped millions rise from poverty.

Today, ICC represents over 45 million companies in 170 countries, developing rules, tools and standards for business that drive US$17 trillion in annual trade.

Building on these achievements, ICC created the Merchants of Peace Foundation with a social impact purpose to help advance a shared objective in the 21st century and beyond to promote peace, prosperity and opportunity for all.
