Global Pact for the Environment: Letter from ICC Secretary General to UN Member Environment Ministers

If properly designed, a Global Pact for the Environment could play a valuable role in providing greater certainty and clarity as regards international environmental law.

On 16 May 2019, International Chamber of Commerce Secretary-General John W.H. Denton AO sent a letter to Ministers for the Environment of all United Nations’ Member States.

The letter calls for the ad hoc, open-ended working group, formed under the General Assembly Resolution ‘Towards a Global Pact for the Environment’, to bring bold, forward-looking recommendations back to the UN General Assembly at its final substantive session in Nairobi starting on 20 May 2019.
