Despite all good intentions, businesses and their counsel have to be prepared with practical strategies in the event of a dispute. But not all disputes call for the same method of resolution. This year’s International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Mediation Conference is designed to provide in-house counsel and corporate management representatives with an arsenal of tips, tools and best practices to effectively resolve commercial disputes.

Organized by the ICC International Centre for ADR, this informative event is set to take place on 19 October 2016. A dedicated Advisory Committee has been selected representing both large-scale corporations and fast-growing start-ups to develop the conference programme. This ensures a diverse business perspective to satisfy the needs of all participants.

Manager of the ICC International Centre for ADR Alina Leoveanu said: “As an international leader in mediation, the Centre continues to champion alternative forms of dispute resolution. This conference in particular allows us to showcase the many successful processes and techniques that can be considered to resolve disputes.”

This year’s programme will focus on the available options to combine different resolution mechanisms while highlighting the advantages and challenges of each. Committee member and Lead Counsel Litigation at Siemens AG Susanne Gropp-Stadler said: “Let´s walk the extra mile. There is more than just ‘arbitration’ to efficiently resolve disputes.” Participants will also be presented with the best ways of mixing mediation and arbitration into a single dispute resolution process, as well as how to use Dispute Boards beyond construction contracts, among other relevant topics.

This 7th edition of the ICC International Mediation Conference promises to be the most dynamic and interactive to date. Through the use of real-life examples, drafting exercises, roundtables and even a “speed-dating” session, participates will be encouraged to actively engage to maximize their learning outcomes. Past participant and partner at Bird & Bird Javier Fernandez-Samaniego said: “This conference is an event not to be missed for those interested in understanding the latest trends in mediation and having great networking opportunities with key international players in the field.”
