As the head of the ICC Court Secretariat, the world’s most prestigious arbitral institution, Mr Carlevaris played a key role in a number of important strategic initiatives-including the establishment of a team in charge of ICC arbitrations in New York City and a representative office in Shanghai. Mr Carlevaris supervised the implementation of the 2012 ICC Rules of Arbitration shortly after their entry into force. He also played a central role in the revision of the ICC Rules which will come into force on 1 March 2017–which include new expedited procedure provisions–and in the introduction of new practices aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency and ethics in ICC arbitrations.
As Director of the ICC Dispute Resolution Services, Mr Carlevaris has also overseen the development of the ICC International Centre for ADR. Mr Carlevaris is a lawyer admitted to the Rome bar and a qualified professor of international law.
Mr. Feris has worked alongside Mr Carlevaris on the implementation of the above mentioned projects. He directly supervised and coordinated the work of the Secretariat’s nine case management teams including the ICC Court’s flagship service, the scrutiny of arbitral awards. In his twelve year career at ICC, Mr Feris also served as Deputy Counsel, Counsel, Managing Counsel and interim Secretary General. He also holds the positions of Global Co-Chair of ICC Young Arbitrators Forum and Secretary of the ICC Latin American Group.
Mr Carlevaris, who, between 1999 and 2003, served as Counsel at the Secretariat, and between 2009 and 2012 as a member of the ICC Court, said: “Leading the Secretariat of an institution I feel deeply attached to has been for me a honour and a great pleasure. I have immensely enjoyed working with the staff of the Secretariat and the many users of ICC dispute resolution around the world.”
