  • 10 February 2009

Jukka Seppälä has been appointed Vice-Chair of the ICC Commission on Trade and Investment Policy. As an officer of the commission, Mr Seppälä joins commission Vice-Chair Geoffrey Gamble and commission Chair Rajya V. Kanoria.

Mr Seppälä is Vice President, Stakeholder Relations and Trade Policy, at Metso Corporation (Finland). He is also the current Chairman of the Trade Policy Committee of the Confederation of Finnish Industries.  Since 2007 he has been a member of the National Export Forum, an advisory body for export policies under the Ministry of Employment and Economy of Finland. Mr Seppälä was appointed Chairman of the ICC Finnish National Commission on Business in Society at the beginning of 2009.

Mr Seppälä also participates in the activities of several bilateral trade associations and chambers, and is the current Chairman of the Finland-Republic of Korea Trade Association, and Vice-Chairman of the Finland-China Trade Association, the Finland-ASEAN Trade Association and the Finnish-Latin American Trade Association.

“In my new capacity as commission Vice-Chair, I very much look forward to playing a leadership role in ICC’s efforts to keep markets open to cross-border trade and investment, especially given the prevailing worldwide economic recession and the growing risk of protectionism,” said Mr Seppälä.

The ICC Commission on Trade and Investment Policy has over 173 members from over 35 countries. Its next meeting will take place in Paris in March 2009.
