Top Tips for your 1st Arbitrator Appointment

ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF), together with the Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration (AFIA), is organizing an international arbitration symposium for young practitioners to discuss different questions regarding arbitrator appointments.


How do you get your first arbitrator appointment? How do you conduct your first case as an arbitrator? Should you accept an arbitrator appointment at such an early stage of your career? This symposium will suggest answers to these questions and provide a platform for wider discussion among young arbitration practitioners considering undertaking arbitrator appointments. The keynote speech will be given by Mr. J. Christopher Thomas, QC, one of the most influential and in-demand arbitrators worldwide.

Who should attend?

This conference is aimed at young arbitration practitioners of 40 years or under: counsel, arbitrators, corporate counsel or academics. The ICC YAF Conference is an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration and to enrich their network in the region.

Contributions or Questions

The success of the ICC YAF – AFIA International Arbitration Symposium depends on contributions made by participants. This Symposium will be conducted in an informal atmosphere intended to encourage contributions or questions related to international arbitration from all participants, irrespective of their levels of practical experience in international arbitration.
