International Arbitration – The Dawn of a New Era in South Africa

The ICC International Court of Arbitration, The Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa NPC and South Africa International Chamber of Commerce are co-organizing a conference entitled “International arbitration – The dawn of a new era in South Africa”. This conference will be held in Johannesburg on 14 October 2016.


With the publication of the International Arbitration Bill, South Africa faces the dawn of a new era in arbitration. Speakers, including the key note speaker the Honourable Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development John Jeffery and several international arbitration specialists, will consider the importance of the Bill and South Africa’s adoption of the UNCITRAL Model Law, the added value of arbitral institutions such as the ICC International Court of Arbitration and AFSA, and developments, trends and opportunities in arbitration in South Africa and how it compares with French and Portuguese speaking parts of Africa.
