International Arbitration in Cuba

Havana, Cuba, • Spanish

The ICC International Court of Arbitration is co-organizing, with the Cuban Court of Arbitration (CCA), a conference to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CCA on 26 August in Havana.

The enactment of a new Law on Foreign Investment in Cuba has brought about the opening of its market to different economic sectors mainly the energy sector, telecommunications, imports and exports, finance, tourism, among others. One of the objectives of this conference is to identify the developments in the Cuban legal regulations, which are related to the regulation of economic liberalisation and foreign investment agreements in Cuba.

Economic growth often involves the emergence of conflicts that must be resolved in the most appropriate manner. Recent polls have proven that arbitration is the alternative method of dispute resolution more used worldwide for the resolution of commercial disputes. This event will focus primarily on providing participants both an academic and a practical approach to arbitration, with special attention to Cuba.
