ICC YAF: What Next in Investment Arbitration?

Paris, France, • English

The ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) is organizing an event in Paris as part of the ICC Frankfurt Investment Pre-Moot. The conference, generously sponsored by Shearman & Sterling, will take place on 20 February 2017.

The ICC YAF Conference is part of the ICC Pre-Moot for the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court Competition.

The Conference will bring together young arbitration practitioners and moot participants to discuss and debate two issues at the fore of investment arbitration. A first panel will address an issue related to this year’s Moot problem: under what circumstances, if any, will a gift constitute an “investment”? A second panel will discuss the impact of a local subsidiary’s settlement of its dispute with the host State: can the parent company bring a treaty claim? Under what circumstances?

The ICC YAF Conference will be an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration, and to enrich their network in the region.
