ICC YAF: Introduction to IP Arbitration

Vienna, Austria, • English

ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) is organizing a conference in Vienna on 6 November 2017. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is generously sponsoring this conference.

Description

The past decade has seen a steady increase in the number of international intellectual property (IP) disputes being resolved through arbitration. This increase is the natural result of arbitration’s consolidation as the primary method of resolving international commercial disputes, and the growing importance of IP rights in the global economy. As companies which rely heavily on their IP rights (for example, in the technology and pharmaceutical sectors) continue to expand and to target new geographic markets around the world, the importance of IP arbitration appears set to increase even further in the decades ahead.

With this in mind, Freshfields and ICC YAF aim to provide young practitioners with an introduction to the world of IP arbitration with a series of experts who will share their experiences in arbitrating IP disputes from a number of different perspectives, including as party, counsel, expert, academic and arbitral institution.

The ICC YAF Conference will be an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration, and to enrich their network in the region.

Who should attend?

This conference is aimed at young arbitration practitioners of approximately 40 years and under: counsel, arbitrators, corporate counsel or academics. The ICC YAF Conference will be an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration, and to enrich their network in the region.
