ICC YAF: Independence, impartiality and efficiency in arbitration

Budapest, Hongrie, • English

ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) is organizing a conference on practical topics which arise in all arbitration proceedings: independence and impartiality of arbitrators and efficiency of arbitration proceedings.

Selecting the arbitrators is one of the first and most important tasks in each arbitration. When searching for the best candidates, the questions of impartiality and independence must be considered to avoid disqualification of the appointed arbitrators. This issue is especially important for jurisdictions with a relatively limited number of arbitration practitioners.

The efficient resolution of the parties’ dispute is another key concern in arbitration. Over the years, the international arbitral community and arbitral institutions have made available various tools to help promote the efficiency of the arbitral process.

The Conference will not only give an overview of these topics but also explore best practices.

Who should attend?

This conference is aimed at young arbitration practitioners of 40 years or under whether they act as counsel, arbitrators, corporate counsel or academics. The ICC YAF Conference is an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration and to enrich their network in the region.
