ICC YAF: Enforcing Arbitral Awards in Turkey: What’s done wrong and how to make it right

Istanbul, Turkey, • English

ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) is organizing a conference to discuss the intricacies of enforcing arbitral awards in Turkey.

Turkish parties involved in ICC arbitrations have reached a record number of 76 in 2016. This figure is expected to increase as Turkish parties are more and more active in international commerce and investment.

In this context, how does enforcement law and practice in Turkey measure up to the best practices in the world?

This conference will cover a wide range of issues from security and fees to appeal and public policy to finally formulate a list of proposals for legislative amendments and practice changes intended to help making Turkey a more arbitration-friendly jurisdiction in the light of the 60th anniversary of the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.

Who should attend?

This conference is aimed at young arbitration practitioners of approximately 40 years and under: counsel, arbitrators, corporate counsel or academics. The ICC YAF Conference will be an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange their experience and thoughts on international arbitration, and to actively enrich their network in the region.
