ICC YAF: Energy Disputes

Düsseldorf, Germany, • English

ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) and White & Case LLP are co-organizing a conference in Düsseldorf on 14 March 2017.

This ICC YAF event will tackle the issue ‘energy disputes’ from an international as well as from a German angle.

In times of economic uncertainty and rising terrorist threats, force majeure clauses are becoming increasingly important in various industry sectors, however in particular in the oil & gas industry. An international panel composed of legal and industry experts will be discussing recent cases and trends in relation to force majeure.

The German power market has been undergoing a massive in the recent years change due to the ” Energiewende ” coming along with, i.e., the phase-out of nuclear energy and a substantial support of renewable energies and, subsequently, leading to a massive fall in power prices. Experts in the German energy market will be presenting and discussing market and legal issues in relation with the consequences of the market changes for power supply contracts.

This conference is aimed at young arbitration practitioners of approximately 40 years and under: counsel, arbitrators, corporate counsel or academics. The ICC YAF Conference will be an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration, and to enrich their network in the region.
