ICC YAF: Challenges and Trends of Arbitration in Eastern Europe

Sofia, Bulgaria, • English

ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) is organizing a conference on the topic of challenges and trends of arbitration in Eastern Europe, an opportunity for arbitration practitioners in the area to share their experience and exchange views on the latest developments.

Over the past two decades arbitration in Eastern Europe has known a significant development, as important economical transformations in the region together with the impact of EU financed infrastructure development programmes have set the perfect decor for a steady growth in the use of this form of dispute resolution.

This YAF Conference is aimed at highlighting the advantages of opting for arbitration in Eastern Europe whilst also discussing about any possible disadvantages. Also, considering the main purpose of any dispute resolution procedure, an entire session of the conference is dedicated to tackling the more pragmatic perspective of post-award troubles, i.e. to what extent the specific procedures for setting-aside and enforcement of arbitral awards can affect the option for arbitration.

Who should attend?

This conference is aimed at young arbitration practitioners of approximately 40 years or under: counsel, arbitrators, corporate counsel or academics. The ICC YAF Conference is an ideal forum for young practitioners to exchange thoughts on international arbitration and to enrich their network in the region.
