Ethics in International Arbitration

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, • French

The ICC International Court of Arbitration and the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) are organizing two conferences on 23-24 June and a training co-organized with UIA on 25 June 2016 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Description

African economies benefit from an increase in the numbers of foreign investments, which is coupled with an increasing demand of the foreign economic actors to submit potential disputes to international arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism. In this context, it is capital to reflect on the necessity to accompany this development of international arbitration in Africa, by the development of good ethical practices, in order to guarantee the emergence of an African arbitral practice, driven by legal security.

The conference organized by the ICC and the OHADA on Ethics in International Arbitration will be an ideal forum in order to conduct this reflection. In addition, on 25 June 2016, the ICC and the UIA will join forces to organize an introductory training to ICC arbitration specially designed for practitioners in the region.
