3rd AIAC-ICC Pre-Moot

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, • English

We are delighted to invite you to participate in the 3rd ICC-AIAC Pre-Moot for The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, following the hugely successful inaugural (2017) and second (2018) editions.

Description

The event will be held at the state-of-the-art facilities of the AIAC and will once again bring together established arbitration practitioners, academics and students from different corners the world. The 2nd AIAC-ICC Pre-Moot hosted more than 60 teams, with close to 300 participants, 177 hearings and 160 arbitrators from 21 countries, a large leap from 36 teams during the inaugural AIAC-ICC Pre-Moot in 2017 and effectively making it the second largest Pre-Moot internationally.

The event will enable participants to:

  • ¬†measure up against and interact with other students from varying countries and legal systems;
  • ¬†obtain comments from and socialize with arbitrators from diverse professional, cultural and legal backgrounds;
  • practice and improve their advocacy skills; and
  • refine and adjust their oral arguments just before making the trip to Vienna or Hong Kong.

Format

For the varying rounds, each team will be paired against another team before a panel for 1.5 hours (1 hour of pleading, 5 minutes of deliberation, 15 minutes of feedback). Experienced arbitrators from the legal community around the world will provide students with comprehensive and constructive feedback after each hearing.
