Paris, 25 April 2005

Erik Belfrage

Senior Vice President of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, Erik Belfrage, has taken over the helm as Chair of the ICC Commission on Business in Society.

An expert in the field, and a longstanding and active participant in ICC's work on corporate responsibility, Mr Belfrage steps up from Vice Chair of the commission to succeed Robin Aram, Vice President, External Relations, Policy & Social Responsibility, Shell International. Mr Aram actively led ICC's work on business in society from its inception in 1997.

"I look forward to advancing the work of the commission," said Mr Belfrage. "We will continue asserting the opinions and concerns of business on the role it should play in society, particularly in the context of globalization and public expectations of companies."

The Commission on Business in Society is made up of 80 member companies from around the world and is ICC's leading policy-making body on corporate responsibility issues. The commission's work includes providing business input into major international initiatives on corporate responsibility as well as organizing events on corporate responsibility issues.

The commission has recently published a statement concerning views on economic, environmental and social reporting which provides guidance to companies on reporting about the economic, environmental and social impacts of their activities.

Mr Belfrage is available for media interviews on corporate responsibility issues.
